2023 Townscape Awards – People’s Choice

We did it! We have won the People’s Choice Award in the Kingston Society Townscape Awards 2023.

For the first time this year, there was also a category for Landscape and another for Greenscape, making us eligible for a nomination. These two categories were subsequently merged for the vote as there was much overlap.

Thank you to all those who nominated us. Kingston Society received a total of 34 nominations spread fairly evenly over the four categories. Kingston Society said “Perhaps unsurprisingly most of the nominations were for new build, but even so we were delighted that the other categories had some stunning entries, in no way subordinate, and given those categories often represent resident initiatives, are a reinvigorating reminder of the power of community as a force for good.”

The short list of nomination winners can be found here. A committee meeting implemented a rigorous selection process and decreased the number from 34 to 16.

We would like to thank all our supporters for voting for us and giving us the accolade of People’s Choice. Our Chair, Stefan had this to say on receiving the news:

“What I find particularly charming is that it is the People’s Choice – a sign of how well regarded QPF is in the community. It’s another wonderful accolade for all the work our volunteers have put in over the years. A big pat on the back.

And a big thank you to So-Shan too, who has created a fantastic social media presence, drumming up support for QPF.

A proud moment – a year of winning awards it seems! We can add this to our Green Flag Community Award 2023/24!”

We will be attending the Kingston Society public meeting on 15th November 2023, at Tiffin School where the awards will be presented. Do come along to cheer us on!

And from today (19/10/23), there will be an exhibition at Kingston Museum of the winners and runners-up. Do pop along and send me any pictures.
